Supervision

For Counsellors & Holistic Practitioners in Hilton (KZN) and Online.

As a counsellor, you are not expected to have it all figured out.

It’s absolutely normal

  • to sometimes feel stuck in the counselling process with your client. It doesn’t mean you’re not a good counsellor, it means you might need a different perspective or some new ideas.

It’s absolutely normal

  • to sometimes feel anxious about a situation you have encountered in your work, and to wonder whether you’ve handled it well. It doesn’t mean you’re not a good counsellor, it means you need someone to talk it through, so you can feel confident in your next steps.

It’s absolutely normal

  • to sometimes feel drained and like you don’t have anything left to give. It doesn’t mean you’re not a good counsellor, it means we need to figure out how you can recharge your own batteries.

As wellness counsellors the kind of professional support we can provide to our clients depends deeply on the support we receive behind the scenes.

Supervision is a collaborative process designed to give you room to pause, step back, and deepen confidence in your own skills and abilities.

Whether you are just starting to build your counselling practice, or are an established practitioner looking for ongoing reflective space, regular supervision plays an important part in building the stable foundation your work rests on: ethically grounded, scope-aligned, and personally rewarding.

Meet your Supervisor

Hi, my name is Svenja.
  • Specialist Wellness Counsellor and Supervisor (ASCHP Membership No 8608 / SUP2026/0011).
  • Close to 10 years of experience providing evidence-informed counselling services to individuals, couples, families, and teams.
  • M.Sc. and B.Sc. Psychology (University of Konstanz, Germany).

My approach to supervision is the same as my approach to counselling: human, reflective, and practical.

As a supervisor it’s my job to create a safe container where you can be honest about the challenging parts of helping work, celebrate your growth, and develop your practice.

Counsellors are bound to a specific scope of practice which is comprehensive but excludes psychotherapy, social work, medical health work and occupational therapy. Counsellors are obliged to terminate counselling and refer clients to a professional (doctor, psychologist, social worker or psychiatrist) where their counselling, with reference to possible pathology or dysfunction, falls outside the scope of their practice.
